Public Relations Strategy and Services
For 40 years, the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts has been quietly funding artists and art programs throughout the state. It was time to give this unique state organization some exposure.
Hastings & Pleadwell was hired in December 2005 to promote HSFCA’s 40th anniversary, celebrated with an array of free public art events, and to make people aware of HSFCA’s impact on the art communities of Hawaii. The media strategy encompassed local, national and international audiences.
Signature events included the launching of monthly “Live from the Lawn” shows as part of Honolulu’s lively First Friday festivities, and the Art in Public Places Exhibition, both at the State Art Museum. January’s “Live From the Lawn” starred Hawaii’s 2005 Grammy™ nominees and attracted hundreds of fans to the historic grounds at No. 1 Capitol District. The performance was taped and webcast to audiences on the mainland as well.
Anniversary celebrations culminated with an International Cultural Summit aimed at addressing cultural questions and issues on a global level.
H&P leveraged media opportunities to talk story about HFSCA’s reservoir of programs and accomplishments over the years.
