Hastings & Pleadwell Becomes Newest Member of PR Consultants Group

(Honolulu, Hawaii, March 4, 2014)— Hastings & Pleadwell: A Communication Company has become part of PRConsultants Group (PRCG), a national coalition of public relations professionals. Barbara Hastings and Barbra Pleadwell were introduced to the network at the PRCG 2014 annual conference in Orlando, Florida in mid-February.

Founded in 2000, PRConsultants Group is an invitation-only collaborative of senior-level PR experts in every major market in the United States. The affiliation provides members with a vehicle to gather best practices and ideas that work across markets. Hastings & Pleadwell (H&P) is the group’s only Hawaii member. Hastings is the firm’s representative to the group.

“We welcome Barbara Hastings and her firm to the PRCG family,” said Bob Schiers, president of PRCG. “H&P is a natural fit. The firm has the attributes we look for when considering a new member—creativity, industry experience and an understanding of local relationships.”

PRConsultants Group members work independently and come together to handle multi-market campaigns. Their clients have included 7-Eleven, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Marriott, Pantene Pro-V, Old Spice, Levi’s and TGI Friday’s.

“Public relations is a dynamic industry,” said Hastings. “Joining an accomplished network allows H&P to be part of a national conversation surrounding industry best practices. Our firm is proud to be PRCG’s Hawaii area team; the partnership will enhance our ability to deliver fresh and innovative communication strategies.”

Hastings has been a newspaper journalist and professional communicator for 40 years in Honolulu and on the Mainland. She has been in public relations for more than 20 years, founding Hastings & Pleadwell with Barbra Pleadwell in 1996. The firm has received local and national recognition for writing, campaign strategy and issues management.

Hastings, who lives on Hawaii Island, sits on the board of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Hawaii and Hawaii Public Radio. She is president-elect of the Rotary Club of Hilo Bay, board member-elect of Zonta International, District 9 and area director-elect for Hawaii. Hastings is immediate past president of the Zonta Club of Hilo and past president of the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce.

Hastings taught journalism courses for several years, and has continued to mentor aspiring communication professionals.
